Alive in the United States, but Made in the Philippines: Jane De Guzman, Interviewed by Hollywood Banayad

Jane De Guzman

After learning about the struggle for finding a Filipino-American identity in English 100 BK, it felt vital to learn about my heritage starting with my own mother Jane De Guzman. After conducting an interview with her, I learned how similar her struggles aligned with my own and those of the Filipino community back in the Philippines and in Daly City. She is living proof of what E. San Juan, Benito M. Vergara, and Mark R. Villegas were trying to inform the readers of our history not only as Filipinos, but as Filipino-Americans.
